Moonshine

White lightening, ’Shine, White dog… Originally, Moonshine was a term to describe high-proof spirits distilled without government regulation. Taxes were placed on whiskey production in 1791, making moonshine production illicit. Whiskey drinkers made and bought moonshine at night, by the light of the moon to avoid taxation. Many believe this is from whence Moonshine gets its name.

This historic spirit was legalized, becoming extremely popular in recent years. Moonshine is unaged whiskey, and as a result it’s clear. Distilled from a corn mash moonshine was traditionally produced in a homemade still and bottled in a mason jar. Scottish and Irish immigrants, first brought moonshine to the United States in the 18th century, now it's one of the most popular sips in 'Merica. So go ahead. Get your shine on.
